Wilder Basingstoke & Deane is a partnership project between Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. The focus of this jointly-funded initiative is to encourage people to take action to create and enhance wild spaces where they live.
We want to see more wildlife friendly areas and small outdoor spaces across the city that are created and supported by the community.
Our work
In early 2022 Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust and Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council started looking for local communities with a passion for nature in Basingstoke and Deane. One parish was selected to become the initial focus of the project, which will involve work to improve and protect existing habitats in the area, the links between them, and create new opportunities for wildlife.
The successful group was from Bramley Village a newly formed group with a core of 6 members and a Facebook group of over 120 members.
