Over the past four years, Hampshire based Hildon Ltd have made regular donations in support of our local Wildlife Watch clubs. To date, the company has donated over £5,000, and their generosity has helped us bring over 653 families closer to nature. We couldn’t be more grateful.
Wildlife Watch clubs are run by dedicated, passionate volunteers who organise regular sessions for members. The clubs are open to families with children aged between five and 12 years, and aim to nurture a life‐long love of nature.
The emphasis on family learning makes Wildlife Watch really special, as this empowers parents to support their children in building lasting connections to the natural world. We like to think that the children involved will go on to become the David Attenboroughs, Chris Packhams and Michela Strachans of the future.
The sessions are always practical and generally take place outside, where families can enjoy handson activities such as pond dipping, investigating animal tracks and signs and finding seashore treasures. By attending regular sessions, children can work through a cumulative set of awards, building up their skills and confidence.
2018 was a particularly exciting year for Wildlife Watch in Hampshire and on the Island. Our brand new Watch Group at Eling Tide Mill got off to a flying start, and over the course of the year, 11 different groups ran 93 sessions for local children and their families.
With Hildon Ltd’s support we can plan for the future, train new Watch Leaders and supply essential kit for the groups to use. Regular donations make such a difference to our work, and enable us to inspire people and protect wildlife in our two counties.
