Team Wilder Gardening Advice

With over 15 million gardens in the UK at a combined size of over 270,000 hectares (Greater London & Greater Manchester combined), garden spaces present a tremendous opportunity to help reverse the decline of nature through wildlife gardening. By creating just a patch of your garden for wildlife, you help support wildlife corridors in urban areas, allowing more space for wildlife to flourish, it increases your connection & value of nature, and in turn improves your physical & mental health.

We recognise that making space for nature is often more easily said than done and can be daunting for those just starting out on their wilder journey. Our Wilder Garden Champions are here to help you. They are gardening volunteers, vetted by the Trust who will be able to give you free personal advice on how to make your spaces wilder that will benefit both you and nature.

How does it work?

To get your free gardening advice session, please fill out the online form below. The more information you provide, the better we can help you. We will then match you up with a Wilder Garden Champion and arrange a time for your advice session.

Depending on your preference, the session can take place face to face or over the phone. Your Wilder Garden Champion will meet with you or give you a call at the arranged time, and discuss ways in which you could make space for nature in your garden. A typical session will last between 30 and 60 minutes.

It may take up to a month for us to arrange your consultation. Please be patient as we match you up with a champion. If you have any concerns please email us on wilder@hiwwt.org.uk.

Please provide us with both your email and phone number so we can contact you. Your email and phone number will only be used to contact you about the gardening consultation.

Please tell us about the specific space where you'd like to invite more wildlife and if you have anything specific in mind with regards to planting or creating new features. Do you have any special interest in certain wildlife species? Please include how big it is and what's there now.
Think about you, your family, friends and your pets. Will there be young children running around? Will there be people who have certain needs for the garden?

Your gardening advice session

Our Garden Champions can visit your garden in person or they can give you a call on your phone. Please state your preference below.
Please use the space below to give us as much detail as possible about your general availability for a consultation. This will help us match you to a Wilder Garden Champion more quickly.
We have to share your phone number and home address with our champions in order for them to carry out the consultation. Sometimes it's also convenient for us to share your email address with the champions as well. The details you have provided here will be used for the garden consultation only. If you have any questions, please email wilder@hiwwt.org.uk.
Would you be happy for us to share your email address with our champions? Please indicate below.
To help match you with the right champion and for them to provide you with the best advice, it’s useful to have photos of your space beforehand. Please send us any pictures you have of your space.
Thank you for your request!
