About the event

Join Lena Griffiths from Hampshire Bat Group,  a partner group to the Bat Conservation Trust, who will share with us her love of bats.  The Hampshire Bat Group is a registered charity made up of dedicated volunteers and  aims to support the conservation of bats in Hampshire and to promote public awareness of these fascinating creatures. Bats are our only truly flying mammal, capable of sustained flight.  In Hampshire we are fortunate to be able to find any of the 17 breeding species of bats in the county, although sadly some have only been encountered very occasionally in recent years.  Bats now face increasing threats such as loss of roost sites, light pollution and the decline in the abundance of night flying insects. Come and discover the amazing rehabilitation work carried out by Hampshire Bat Carers and find out what to do if you find a sick or injured bat.  Lena will explain how we can all help in various ways to protect our precious local bat populations.
