Parking information

Parking is available down a track on the southern boundary of the reserve. Please do not block access on the track or woodland ride.

Walking trails

Unsurfaced paths can be wet and muddy.

Access

From the A31 heading north, turn right onto the A272 for West Meon Hut. At West Meon Hut turn right onto the A32. At West Meon turn left for East Meon. After 1/2 mile turn right onto Coombe Lane. Drive past the reserve on the left and after 1/2 mile turn left down a track. GU32 1NB takes you to Coombe Lane

Bus stop: High Street (road between West Meon and East Meon) on junction with Vinnells Lane (250m). Winchester to Petersfield route (Stagecoach). Walk 150m east along the main road then turn right into Coombe Lane. There are several entrances into the reserve on the left hand side of the road.

About the reserve

This serene, ancient woodland is home to an impressive variety of rare plants and fungi, making it a wonderful place to experience the small wonders of the natural world.

A myriad of flora and fauna can be found nestled beneath the ash and beech trees, including narrow-leaved helleborines and a healthy population of dormice.

Chappetts Copse Nature Reserve is the perfect location for a wildlife enthusiast, and a walk through the golden glades combined with the earthy scent of the forest is sure to reignite your connection with nature.

Chappetts Copse was given to the Trust in 1981 by Edith Whitehead.
