As part of our marine project, Secrets of the Solent, we've teamed up with much-loved seaside attraction Blue Reef Aquarium Portsmouth to install a number of new interpretation boards.
The Solent Seas zone will host an illustrated underwater scene with some of the fascinating species and special features of our waters, as well as ideas on how everyone can help protect our marine environment. The Tropical Treasures zone will also benefit, with a series of boards shining a spotlight on the surprising local relatives of animals found in distant seas.
Tim Ferrero, Secrets of the Solent Project Manager, said: “We are delighted to be working with Blue Reef Aquarium, as it is a great place for locals and visitors to get up close and personal with our marine wildlife. The Solent is home to a surprising diversity of fascinating species and important habitats, and we want everyone to have the chance to get inspired by the underwater world on their doorstep.”
Jenna Macfarlane-Leach, General Manger at Blue Reef Aquarium, said: “The Wildlife Trust is crucial to the welfare of our local wildlife and we are thrilled to raise awareness of their work to our visitors. As well as making Blue Reef Aquarium a great day out, we are very passionate about it being a centre for education, where budding marine enthusiasts can gain conservation inspiration!”
Secrets of the Solent is a four-project which is celebrating the amazing people and wildlife that share our waters. It is generously supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. Find out how you can get involved.
