These two wonderful nature reserves offer visitors an incredible range of habitats to see, from wet woodland, wood pasture and grassland to heathland, bog and mire. Chiff chaffs, skylarks, warblers, stonechats and hobbies are among the huge number of birds attracted to the reserves, and for those with an interest in reptiles, adders, slow worms and grass snakes are also widespread.
Many types of fungi also thrive here, including fly agaric and the infamous stinkhorn. During the summer, beautiful demoiselles, azure damselflies, southern hawkers and golden-ringed dragonflies dart through the air, creating wonderful aerial displays.
