Titchfield Haven and Haven House
The decision to sell Haven Cottage and Haven House was made in early December by Hampshire County Council (HCC) and as a result, the café and visitor centre were closed on 23 December 2022.
Following this decision, HCC advised Fareham Borough Council of its intention to sell Haven House. Because Haven House is listed as an Asset of Community Value, it could not be sold for a period of six months, allowing a local community interest group or local charity the time to develop a proposal.
The Trust submitted a written request to be treated as a prospective bidder to potentially take on the ownership of the National Nature Reserve and Haven House, working closely with the Titchfield Haven Community Hub (previously Hill Head Residents’ Association). The deadline for this proposal was 13 June 2023.
After investing considerable time and resources during a thorough due diligence process, the Trust submitted a proposal for the future management of Titchfield Haven National Nature Reserve.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the many people who supported and engaged with this work – including our members, project donors, survey respondents, Titchfield Haven Community Hub and the wider local community.
Hampshire County Council has now completed its assessment of our proposal and the recommendation has been made to reject our plans.
