About the event
You will spend the morning learning about the range of trees and shrubs in Freemantle Lake Park and how important they are for our wildlife. You will have an opportunity to learn a little about winter tree identification and we'll look at the different wildlife benefits of some of these species. We'll talk about the value of hedgerows for wildlife. We'll also be looking and listening for birds and beginning to learn how to identify what we see.
Through observation, discussion and hands-on use of plant and bird Identification keys and apps you will have an opportunity to practice tree and bird identification in the park. The course will cover:
- Introduction to tree and common bird identification & use of keys and apps.
- An overview of the wildlife benefits of some of the tree species present here in the park.
- Discussion on the value of hedgerows and the overall wildlife benefits of this city park.
During the morning we will be walking around the park which is wet and muddy in places.
Parking available on Lakelands Drive and bicycle stands available next to the play area in the park.
