Thank you so much for your generous gift to our 60th Anniversary Appeal
As a thank you, you are invited to come along to one of three supporter events being held this spring. Each one is a walk around the nature reserve with the local reserves officer and a chance to find out more about the site and species that live there.
So that as many people as possible have the chance to join one of these events we ask that you only book onto one event at this time.
A Wetland Wander at Newchurch Moors Nature Reserve, Newchurch, Isle of Wight
Join us for an adventurous walk with Reserves Officer Emma Hunt and find out what we have been doing here since we bought this fabulous site back in 2019. Spring is the perfect time to visit with woodland flowers such as wood anemone and bluebell in bloom, and down in the lower lying wetlands there is a chance of spotting kingfisher. Beaver Recovery Project Officer Izzie Tween will be on hand to talk about our aspirations to release beaver onto the Island; plans that could further enrich the number and variety of species that thrive here.
This walk will be both on and off maintained paths and may also include areas of uneven an wet ground. Parking is available in a local public car park. There will be no access to toilet facilities.
Springtime in Pamber Forest Nature Reserve, Tadley, North Hampshire
Join Reserves Officer Graham Dennis, as we soak up springtime at Pamber Forest. Pamber comes alive at this time of year, with trees bursting into leaf as the days lengthen and the sun begins to warm. We will be looking out for woodland flowers and listening for the birds such as blackcaps and garden warblers. Pamber Forest has been a local nature reserve since 1980 and is a wonderful place to see the impact and benefits long-term conservation management can have. Graham will also be talking about the history of this nature reserve and the changes that have been seen during his time working here.
This walk will mainly be on paths within the forest but may include areas of rough ground. Parking will be available at the meeting area. There will be no access to toilet facilities.
Nature up close at Testwood Lakes Nature Reserve, Testwood, Southampton
Testwood Lakes is one of our three education centres in Hampshire and is a great place for people to really get up close to and learn more about local wildlife. We will start at the centre, from where we will have the chance to head out to the bird hides with Reserves Officer Clare Bishop, or stay closer and explore the centre pond and its emerging spring wildlife with the education team. Trust staff will be on hand to tell us more about what we see, as well as to talk about how the site is managed and how it is engaging the next generation of wildlife fans.
This event will start and end at the Education centre where there are toilet facilities. The bird hides are a short walk (approx 1km) away from the Centre, should you choose to investigate the dipping pond, this is immediately adjacent to the Education Centre.
