Founded in 1998, Charlotte Cornelius has built a reputation for crafting unique jewellery inspired by the sea and the diverse wildlife found in the Solent. Her boutique and workshop are based in Southsea, with her marine inspiration coming from raising her family on Hayling Island.

The company is committed to sustainable and ethical production practices, ensuring their designs reflect both beauty and responsibility. Having been a corporate member of the Trust since 2021, Charlotte Cornelius has a longstanding relationship with the Trust, helping to create a wilder Hampshire and Isle of Wight.

Their latest Poseidon Seagrass Collection is handmade in their onsite workshop using recycled and Single Mine Origin silver and gold. Many pieces are set with exquisite colourful gems and ethically sourced Ocean Diamonds amongst the seahorses and fronds of seagrass. These stunning designs will support Hampshire & Isle of Wight’s Solent Seagrass Restoration Project, with 10% of profits from sales being donated to the Trust. This generous donation will also help raise awareness of the work being completed to restore our local seagrass ecosystems.

The Fundraising team met with Charlotte and her team back in July to discuss the vision for her Poseidon Seagrass Collection and how her kind donation would support our work. It is always exciting finding new ways to collaborate with our members.

By restoring seagrass habitats, we will create a wilder Solent, supporting increased biodiversity and sustainable fisheries, promoting greater ecosystem services, cleaner water and creating a natural carbon solution to mitigate the effects of climate change.

Ellie Parker, Marine Officer for the Trust’s Solent Seagrass Restoration project, spoke about the exciting collaboration:

“We’re delighted that Charlotte Cornelius has chosen to support our Solent Seagrass Restoration Project and that this amazing habitat has inspired her new jewellery collection.”

Charlotte Cornelius also shared her thoughts on the importance of this collection:

“Discovering the beauty and environmental importance of seagrass meadows inspired us to design this exquisite jewellery collection to reveal its fascinating story.

We are grateful that we can contribute by raising awareness to a new audience as well as funds for the Solent Seagrass Restoration Project, through such a trusted charity as HIWWT.”

We are always thrilled to work with companies who are keen to raise awareness of the importance of conserving and restoring land and sea for wildlife. As a charity, our efforts are only made possible through the generosity of the individuals and organisations that support us.
