Fundraising: Fareham Bowling Club

Discover how the Fareham Bowling club united to support the Trust as their chosen charity of the year and learn about their fundraising efforts.

Members at Fareham Bowling club came together to raise money for the Trust after we were chosen to be their charity of the year.

They decided to support the Trust, as club president Jim Mears has a special connection with one of our Nature Reserves. Jim grew up just down the road from Swanwick Lakes and has fond memories of playing there as a child. Both his father and grandfather worked at the Brickworks close by which is where he spent a lot of time growing up.

Jim wanted to give something back to a local site that he feels close to, so chose to raise money for the education centre at Swanwick Lakes, to allow local children also growing up in the area to experience the history and wildlife of the beautiful site in the same way that he did.

The club did incredibly well and over the course of the year and raised an incredible total of £640 which they mainly raised through a Presidents Charity Day which they held. The day comprised of stalls with refreshments and games as well as a collection box for attendees to make donations. The event was complete with a bowls event on the day for a 50p donation to take part.

Thank you so much to Jim and all the members at Fareham Bowling Club for all your support.
